International Winter Festival “Hyperborea-2012”
February, 14th - 18th

Petrozavodsk City Administration organize the XI International Contest of Snow and Ice Sculptures in the framework of International Winter Festival "Hyperborea-2012". Translated from Greek, "Hyperborea" means "the land of people, living far away in the possessions of Northern wind". Traditionally the Contest takes place in Onega lake park in Petrozavodsk (Russia). Festival activities include snowmen contest, ice fishing and swimming, freestyle kite-sailing and various performances. If you have costumes symbolizing life in the North, you will have a chance to march in Carnival "Enjoy life, Northlander". Pleasant emotions, new acquaintances and jolly pastime are guaranteed! Professional and amateur teams of maximum 3 ice/snow sculptors will be in the Contest. Prizes are awarded in three nominations: Snow sculpture, Ice sculpture and Snow sculpture for children.
